I am forever fascinated with the way individuals set themselves apart, whether it’s through their attitude, style, or facial expressions. Starting off as a single cartoon portrait, this card collection was inspired by the multitude of different people one passes on an average day.
With an abundance of distinctive features and each a unique presence, in this set I aimed to highlight these differences in a simple way using playful lines and soft-hued color patches. The result - A family pack with each a personality of their own.
A unique touch
The concept for the series was born after flipping through my notes and sketch books that I keep and use whenever I find myself in a new city. Visiting these towns and documenting their local charm makes me pause for a moment to appreciate the otherwise possibly unnoticed beauty of these places. From the local street musicians who breathe melodies into the bustling urban landscapes to the everyday individuals going about their daily chores; we all play our part in adding our distinct elements to the canvas.
Through this card series I aim to capture the essence of these souls, showcasing their appearances, quirks and personalities; the rich human mosaic that gives life to our cities and reminds us of the beauty in our shared, but each their own personal experience.
